I am a qualified Cost & Management Accountant (CIMA) with 43 years experience of working in Business, 34 of which were spent at Board level. After graduating from Leeds Metropolitan University, I spent time within British Rail’s Internal Audit function before embarking on my Private Sector Business career which has involved roles both in the UK and USA as well as periods working in the Far East and most parts of mainland Europe. I was a Management Consultant with Price Waterhouse Coopers and have worked at a senior level for a number of plc’s including The Ti Group, BOC Group (now Linde) and Uniq Prepared Foods (now Greencore).
I have also worked for a number of large private companies including 10 years with Muller Yogurt, a period working with McKinsey the international Strategic Consultancy Group, to develop 5 year strategies for the Grampian Country Food Group, and 3 years with Dairy Farmers of Britain, a farmer owned Co-operative processing 2bn litres of milk annually. During my time with Muller, I was also a non Executive Director of the Shropshire Learning & Skills Council.
I retired from full time employment in August 2012 and apart from my role as Chair of Governors for Park Grove, I am also a Trustee and Treasurer for a York based charity called Accessible Arts & Media. I live off the Mount here in York, am married and have 2 children who in turn have families of their own.
