Early Years and Key Stage 1

We had a fantastic day celebrating our Topic for Autumn 1 – It’s A Bug’s Life. As a way to draw our Topic to an end, we had a carousel of different activities in each classroom with each teacher. The children baked some spider crispy cakes, went on a QR trail, created bug artwork and had a go at story writing on the Chromebooks. It was a fun-filled day and was topped off with party games in the hall for our ‘Bug Ball’.

Key Stage 2

Across all of Key Stage 2, we enjoyed a fantastic day of activities linked to our history topic if the Vikings, including an exciting workshop lead by the awesome Wulfric, who taught us lots about Viking life. We found out about the weapons and armour they used in battle, from the common spears used to the expensive silver swords the wealthier Vikings had. We even held some Viking chainmail – which was incredibly heavy! We investigated different everyday objects and made predictions about what they were and who used them. It seems the Viking men were quite vain and had their own beauty sets so they could pluck their eyebrows and clean their nails! Each class also designed and created their own Viking shields.
