Enjoy a rest this weekend, you’ve earned it. We have a lovely week planned for you next week including our Christmas party. Don’t forget to bring party clothes in a bag and we will get changed ready for an afternoon of fun.
We’ve worked hard this week on some surprises to take home and share this Christmas. Our phonics work is continuing and we’ve seen some great examples of really neat work done at home in our new phonic books. Lots of children are reading at home and we love to read adult comments in your reading journals. We’ve been busy with maths work too. We had a go at data handling in our Forest Schools session. That was great fun! We had to find the Christmas pictures that were hidden and then we turned them into a pictogram. One of the pictures had holly and berries which we saw in the wildlife area ‘for real’.
We’re continuing to learn and work hard and we deserve a treat next week.
Keep reading, doing your phonics tasks and
Go to bed early!

Homework

In English we are still thinking about Christmas. We will be reading ‘The Jolly Christmas Postman’ and writing letters and tags. Please continue to practice letter formation and handwriting at home. It would also support your child’s phonic knowledge if you could go over the sounds which have two letters in, but make 1 sound, such as ‘ch’, ‘sh’, ‘th’, ‘ng’.

In maths we will be continuing to look at 3d shapes, making Christmas boxes. Why not look through the kitchen cupboard and see what 3d shapes you can find? Don’t forget to keep counting! Maybe count how many Christmas trees you can see when you walk home from school.

We will be busy getting ready for the Christmas party by making party hats and place mats. In the areas of provision we will be making Christmas puppets, writing Christmas cards and wrapping parcels in the Elves Workshop. Can you help your child to practise using scissors at home? Maybe by making a Christmas decoration. Why not write a list together of what you will need for Christmas Day e.g. food for Christmas dinner, gloves for a winter walk etc….

Many thanks and Merry Christmas,
