Two days later in much brighter conditions, Park Grove took to the field for their last home league match of the season against Acomb Primary School. Park Grove dominated the opening exchanges and Tomas Wormald’s early finish from a tight angle gave the home side an early lead. Jake Coulby-Ackroyd delightful finish from 20 yards doubled Park Grove’s lead at the half-time break.

The second half saw further Park Grove domination, with a second goal from Tomas Wormald and an excellent solo goal from Ben Bellerby. Perhaps the greatest cheer came when Chelsea Haskins, playing in her first match after braking her arm, scored a delightful half-volley from a corner late in the second half. The end scoreline was a very convincing Park Grove victory by 5 goals to nil.

Man of the Match was Jake Coulby-Ackroyd, whose calmness on the ball and all-round effort in defence and attack, provided the basis of many of Park Grove’s best moments from the centre of midfield. Tomas Wormald justified his selection up front with two well taken goals and a whole-hearted performance around the pitch.

Park Grove’s final league football match will take place against Lakeside at the start of the new term. Well done on your fantastic performances in each of the matches this week!
