Football Match Reports – Lord Deramores 0 Park Grove 5 and Park Grove 9 Lord Deramores 0

After much encouragement from the opening part of the season, on a bright yet cold Monday afternoon, Park Grove took to the field to play Lord Deramores School in back-to-back matches. In front of a vociferous crowd, the cold feeling in the air was soon dispelled early in the first match by Park Grove’s energetic and fast-flowing possession football which was joy to behold. This created numerous chances which were expertly converted first by Kyle Wilce and then by Jake Coulby-Ackroyd, who in his first full start for the school this year after an injury lay-off, scored a superb first half hat-trick with three delightful finishes to make the half time score 4-0 to Park Grove. The pattern of the second half followed the first half in terms of Park Grove’s domination but chances were less clear cut, however there was still time towards the end for Jake Coulby-Ackroyd to net his fourth game of the match from a delightful cross by Kian Kennedy. The final score 5-0 to Park Grove.

Every player had a fantastic game but the midfield triangle of Louie Powell, Jake Coulby-Ackroyd and Chelsea Haskins created havoc for the Lord Deramores defence and were the stand-out players.

After a brief break, Park Grove were out of the blocks as fast as a cheetah in the second match with the strong pressing and possession game normally associated with the likes of Barcelona, clear to see. Such impressive football created chances galore with an excellent finish from Ben Bellerby getting Park Grove up and running. Top scorer Kyle Wilce then produced a finishing masterclass for all the spectators with a four goal haul to put Park Grove in a position of strength at half time – 5-0.

The second half followed a similar vain with perhaps the goal of the afternoon from Tom Carter, a fantastic jinking run from his own half, to make the score 6 nil. Captain for the game Chelsea Haskins then added to the score line with a good finish from a corner. Further fantastic finishes from Jake Coulby-Ackroyd and Kian Kennedy, his first for the school, meant the final score was a mighty 9-0 to Park Grove.

Star players were impossible to choose with every single player who took to the pitch playing superbly, as they all contributed to a quite magnificent performance, certainly the finest in my tenure as Park Grove manager.

A huge well done to all the children who represented our school and the excellent parental support we had throughout the afternoon! Our next match takes place at home this coming Tuesday in the local “derby” against St Wilfred’s Primary School. Please come and show your support for the team if you can!
