My name is Heather Barden and I have been a Co-opted-Governor at Park Grove School since July 2015.
Having originally trained at St James Hospital in Leeds I have had a 20 year Nursing career before moving up to York in 2007 when I took up my first job in Adult Social Care. I managed a variety of home care services and had the responsibility of setting up a new telecare service. Over the course of the following few years I started to plan to take two of those services out of council control and create a social enterprise. It was along arduous path but I was determined and it paid off in the end as I have now been the Chief Executive of be Independent for 18 months.
I wanted to become a Governor at Park Grove Primary as I finally feel as though I have something to offer and intend to be as involved as time will allow and to try my hardest to be an asset to the school. My role will be to support the staff and help to ensure quality teaching through the pay, appraisal and staffing committee.
I have two daughters and I enjoy spending time with them, I enjoy running, socialising with my friends and reading.
