Homework w/b 7th October

English

This will be our last week of looking at stories set in familiar places. The children have planned their own story set at the seaside and this week we will write this up. We will focus on what makes our writing interesting and exciting to read. For example, we hope the children use capital letters, full stops and maybe even some adjectives and connectives! We can’t wait to read the final seaside stories. Can you draw a picture to go with your story? You can then bring it in and stick in with your story.

Maths

In maths we will be continuing our work on addition and subtraction. Keep practising at home – can you add/take away by counting on/back? We have also been doing lots of counting in class. Lots of children can count forwards confidently but struggle going backwards – try going back in 1s, 2s and 5s. We will also be looking at 3D shapes, learning their names and describing their features. Can you see any 3D shapes in the environment?

Topic

We will continue to look at the extended family in our topic work. This will include grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles.  If possible talk to your child about the different activities you do with the extended family and help your child to complete the family tree on the attached sheet. The finished sheet will be stuck in your child’s topic book.

If you haven’t had the chance yet please go to www.parkgroveprimary.co.uk and have a look at our class blog. Please leave a comment; I love to read your comments (parents too!).

Please remember we have a staff training day on Friday 11th October so school will be closed.

You put a lot of time into your homework this week Katarina! I thought the pictures you stuck on the family tree were lovely.
