One of Park Grove’s pupils; Phoebe, was inspired by her new school to write an award-winning journalism piece for a competition she found in The Week junior magazine. When she had to move from a school she loved (Clifton with Rawcliffe School) because her parents were moving house, one thing that made the move more bearable was the excitement of going to a new school that did not have a uniform. She loved the idea of wearing her own clothes to school. When she got to Park Grove Academy she enrolled in their journalism club and this further inspired her to enter a journalism competition run by Learn2Think. She wrote this article after interviewing four head teachers from a variety of York schools and earned a trophy as a runner up to the main winner. Here is her article…
