Business

Register of attendees

Holly made a note of those present.

School Council ring binder

Holly was asked to design a cover for the School Council ring binder, and to collate agendas and minutes of meetings, and profiles of Council members.

School Website

It was agreed that children should be encouraged to add to blogs on the website, and that it would be great if Chief-bloggers could blog more than other children in the school. Mention was made of Toby, who is blogging really well.

The Chair and Vice-chair need passwords for access to the website.

Christmas Fayre

Katie mentioned that her mum could sponsor a stall, so that the school would not have to pay, which would result in a saving of £12. Council members should think about the types of stalls needed, what profit could be generated, and what the profit could be spent on. The Christmas Fayre will be discussed in more detail at a future Council meeting.

Suggestion Boxes

Mr Mastrelli asked the Councillors for classes 5, 7 and 9 to read a selection of suggestions that had been posted in their class suggestion boxes:

  • Have a pyjama or sports day to raise money for Save the Children.
  • Have more animals in the wildlife area.
  • Have a school pet, although concern was raised that some children may be allergic to animals.
  • Have a Halloween disco.
  • Have an Easter hunt.
  • Have a talent show for all year groups, although concern was also raised that some children may not want to participate.
  • Have more playground equipment.
  • Make the Year 5 and 6 doors easier to open. Toby will discuss the matter with Mr Stoner.

Ellen mentioned that Travis took their class suggestion box home to decorate.

Any other business

Ben suggested that Key Stage 1 children should have Reading Buddies in Key Stage 2.

Date of next meeting

To be confirmed.
