Hi, my name is Natalie Slater and I have worked at Park Grove for the last three years. I have quite a varied role in school – I work as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant in Key Stage 2, where I provide in class support mainly to Class 6 but to one or two others, as and when needed. I teach Art to Classes 5, 6 and 7 each Thursday morning and I am also a valuable member of the school’s Pupil Support Team, which involves working as a Children & Family Support Worker. If you would like to know about the role of a Children & Family Support Worker, please go to the relevant page. I am originally from the Red Rose County of Lancashire where I have worked with children and young people, in other schools since April 2004. I still regularly travel to Lancashire to visit family and friends. I have a 16 year old son who has just completed his GCSE’s at All Saints RC School.
In my spare time (which doesn’t feel like much at the moment), I love listening to music, particularly going to concerts which I didn’t get much chance to do when I was younger and so I’m making up for lost time! I enjoy travelling to foreign places and I try not to go to the same place twice, as the world is a big place and I want to see as much of it as possible! I love to read books, especially autobiographies because I am very nosy and I like to see how the other live (only joking)! I also enjoy socialising, meeting new people and generally having a right good giggle (laughter is the best medicine after all)! I love working with children and I am passionate about making a positive difference to children’s lives, no matter how big or small. I enjoy watching children thrive and get a real sense of achievement if I have been able to contribute in helping them to reach their potential.
