My name is Richard Romaniak and I have been a Co-opted-Governor at Park Grove School since July 2015. My son started at the school in September 2015.
I was born in Whitby and lived in various parts of Yorkshire all my life until settling in York in 2006.
I am a qualified public accountant and have worked with Aviva since 2007. Previously I have worked as a Management Consultant with both PricewaterhouseCoopers and IBM and spent over ten years working in the NHS in Bradford, Leeds and Harrogate as an accountant. In addition I have supported the Nuffield Institute in the University of Leeds for over twenty years lecturing on Financial Management in health care as part of a Masters degree sat by people from all around the world and particularly from developing countries. I have also been an examiner for CIPFA and ACCA accountancy bodies. Previously I was also the Finance Director of a charity that successfully developed a community initiative for under privileged children, young adults and young offenders in Castleford successfully bidding (and spending!) over £1M of National Lottery, Coal Board Regeneration and Children in Need money.
I absolutely love living in York, and believe that this a brilliant place to raise a family. We were very happy when Park Grove was confirmed as our son’s school as it is an excellent place for children to learn, be creative and have some fun.
My role as a governor is to support the school in ensuring that we are providing a safe place to learn and fully health and safety compliant. I also support the Financial Management of the school.
My interests are playing football, watching cricket, brewing beer, and travelling about in our camper van. I also attempt (not very successfully) to run to keep fit!
