My name is Sheila Davitt-Betts and I am a parent-Governor at Park Grove School from January 2015. I was born and educated in York until the age of 18, when I headed south to study French and Drama, much later completing a Post-Graduate Diploma to become a qualified counsellor. Alongside a small counselling practise, my professional career has seen me hold a number of PA positions at senior Executive level within the private and public sectors and six years as a Fundraising and Communications professional in an NHS setting.
After nearly 20 years in London, I returned to York with my daughter who is now 6, and I work at the University of York as Coordinator of an Institute. I absolutely love living back in York, we are surrounded by a (rather large!) extended family, and I think that the range of activities and opportunities for play, learning and general development for children in York and the surrounding area is exceptional. I also think that the opportunities at Park Grove for children to be creative, to be curious and ultimately to be themselves are excellent, and I am very pleased to be supporting the ongoing development of the school as improves further the education and experience it offers its pupils.
My interests are singing (occasionally in front of others), running (not in front of others if I can help it!) and I have just formed a book group, which I have wanted to do for years!
