The Yorkshire Museum

Class 6 had an exciting morning at the Yorkshire Museum today.

We absolutely loved the ‘Extinct’ exhibition and worked hard as spotters and clue finders to locate the answers to the questions on our activity sheet.

I was really impressed with the giant fossilised Ichthyosaur skeleton – I couldn’t believe just how big it was! I read that it is about 180 million years old and dates from the Jurassic period. The fossil perfectly brought alive the story of Mary Anning for me, although the Ichthyosaur at the Yorkshire Museum was found closer to York, in Whitby.

Now that you know which part of the morning I liked the best, can you tell me what you liked the most at the museum…?

Many thanks to all of the parent helpers who escorted us to the museum and back.

– Miss Land.
