Clare Appleton (Teacher)

  My name is Clare Appleton. I am a KS2 teacher and joined Park Grove in 2020! I grew up in Lancashire and moved to York to come to university. It is such a beautiful city that I never left!

I love teaching creative subjects such as art and dance, but my passion is teaching English. I love researching great books to choose to help us with our writing or finding great texts to read to the class. I have also led Maths in other schools and love finding exciting ways to make math fun and exploring how it can be used in life outside of school. 

When I am not teaching, I help look after my two stepchildren; we love going to cafes, museums and theatres as well as visiting family. My other great loves are wildlife and travel. I try to combine these interests where I can by visiting wildlife in the holidays. I went to see tortoises in the Galapagos and orangutans in Borneo before I joined Park Grove. 

I love being a part of the Park Grove family, we are lucky to work with such wonderful children and such a great community!
