Welcome to Red Class. Here is some important information about our class.
In this class, the teachers are Miss Glaholm (Monday, Tuesday and every other Wednesday) and Miss Orr (every other Wednesday, Thursday and Friday):
Alternative pick up arrangements
If you have made arrangements for your child to go home with someone different it is essential you let us know. Please Bloomz as soon as possible, preferably the day before, to allow us to receive your message within good time. Alternatively for last minute changes, you could inform the office who will let us know.
The children go out to play each day, and also have regular outdoor activities. They need to bring a coat to school every day, which will withstand light rain. A hat, gloves and scarf (and wellies) are also a good idea during the cold weather and a sunhat when it is hot. Please ensure that all children’s clothing is named. We have Forest Schools sessions every Thursday afternoon so please ensure your child has warm, waterproof clothing and wellington boots as they will go out in all weathers!
Drinks in the classroom
The children are allowed to drink water freely during the day, especially when it is warm. The children must bring a named water bottle to school each day to drink from and to take it home at the end of every day.
Children will receive a piece of fruit each morning session and will have access to milk from the milk fridge.
We will be doing P.E. on Wednesday afternoons. Please check that your child has a full P.E kit. Each child needs to have a P.E. kit in school at all times. We have a dress code for this for safety reasons:
If your child wears earrings, it is school policy that these are either removed or covered for P.E. lessons. Please either teach them to do this themselves or remove them before they come to school that day, as we are not able to do it for them. Please leave kits in school and we will send them home each half term for washing.
We use Bloomz to share what the children have been doing in class and as a messaging system.
We will hear children read regularly in class. They will receive a reading book each week and we also encourage you to use Reading Eggs with them which includes comprehension activities.
If possible, please hear your child read for ten minutes each day and ask them questions about what they have read as this makes a big difference to the progress they make.
Each Friday we will Bloomz ideas of activities you can do at home. Please also refer to ideas on the topic leaflets. If you wish to share please do this via Bloomz and we can show the class. There will also be activities on Mathseeds/Numbots and Reading Eggs/Fast phonics. Login details for these will be sent soon.
All children in Reception and Key Stage 1 are entitled to a free school meal. We give the option of either a cooked lunch or a ‘Grab Bag’. Your child can choose each morning which they would like or they may bring in a packed lunch from home if they wish. Please remember that we have a ‘no nut’ policy at our school, this includes Nutella.
We would like to reduce the amount of lost property we accumulate in school. To help us reunite children with lost clothes it is essential they have names on all items of clothing then we can return found items. Please help us by labelling all your child’s property, including P.E. bags, kits and pack up boxes.
We ask that the children do not bring toys or footballs into school (with the exception of poppets at lunchtimes). We have footballs in school for the children to use.
Please could the children bring in spare clothing in case of accidents to be kept in a named bag in their classroom storage box.
If your child needs to take medicine during the school day please take this to reception. You will need to fill in a consent form for us to administer this. For children with inhalers or epipens please also do this and we will discuss specific arrangements for your child.
Thank you for your continued support.
