Welcome to Class 2. Here is some important information about our class.
The teachers in Class 2 are Mrs Loose (Monday, Tuesday and every other Wednesday morning) and Miss Orr (every other Wednesday, Thursday and Friday). In class 2 we have 2 teaching assistants, Mrs Stone and Mrs Thomas. Mrs Stone will be in class every morning and Miss Thomas will be in the class full time.
Every Wednesday afternoon the teacher has some time for PPA (planning, preparation and assessment). During this session the children will be having a specialist PE lesson with ‘Total Sports’ and an art lesson with Miss Drake.
In the morning
Each morning we will meet you in the playground to collect the children at 8:45. They will then have a quiet activity to do before registration and choosing their dinner option. Hopefully restrictions will be lifted at some point in the year as previously from 8:45 to 8:55 parents and carers have been invited into the classroom to spend time doing an activity with their child.
The children go out to play each day, and also have regular outdoor activities. They need to bring a coat to school every day, which will withstand light rain. A hat, gloves and scarf (and wellies) are also a good idea during the cold weather and a sunhat when it is hot.
Drinks in the classroom
The children are allowed to drink water freely during the day especially when it is warm. Please can you provide your child with a water bottle for school and label it with their name. We will send the water bottles home each night to be washed. 4 year old children will be provided with a carton of milk.
We will hear children read, in groups and individually, regularly in class. Due to covid we will send one reading book home each Tuesday and these will be recorded in their Reading Record. The level of the book will be appropriate to the level of the book they are reading in school which is in line with comprehension as well as fluency. Your children can also read books online using the online platform Reading Eggs/Eggspress.
If possible please hear you child read for ten minutes each day as this makes a big difference to the progress they make.
Due to Covid we are unable to send homework and spellings home as we have done in the past. Each Friday we will bloomz a maths and a reading activity using the online platforms, as well as another task linked to our current topic. You can also refer to the topic leaflets which are sent out at the beginning of each half term. A reminder that work can’t currently be sent in to school but photos of work completed can be sent to use via Bloomz or email.
Every Tuesday afternoon we will be doing our Forest School session. We try to go out whatever the weather so please make sure that your child has a suitable warm, waterproof coat for their day. Please also send wellies that can be left in school and used each week.
Please do not allow your child to bring toys into school. We have lots of resources to play with in school and toys from home may be lost or broken.
All children in Reception and Key Stage 1 are entitled to a free school meal. We give the option of either a cooked lunch or a ‘Grab Bag’. Your child can choose each morning which they would like or they may bring in a packed lunch from home if they wish.
We would like to reduce the amount of lost property we accumulate in school. To help us reunite children with lost clothes it is essential they have names on all items of clothing. Please help us by labelling all of your child’s property, including P.E. bags, kits and pack up boxes.
Thank you for your continued support.
