Homework 13th January

English

This week we will be continuing to look at non-fiction text. We will focus on the layout of the page in a non-fiction book. Look at one of your fact books at home and see how the pages are laid out. Can you find these features- a photograph, a caption, a diagram, a label, a subheading? Do all the pages in the book have the same layout? Try another fact book- is this the same or different?

Maths

In Maths this week we will be thinking about addition and in particular using empty number lines to find the answers to calculations. Can you make up some addition calculations and find the answer by using an empty number line? Remember to put the largest number at the beginning of the empty number line before you start. We will also look at capacity of different containers, read scales and use non-standard units of measurement to find out how much liquid a container can hold.

Topic

We will be learning about the different layers of the rainforest and where in the world our rainforests are situated.

We will also be making rain sticks and listening to some rainforest sounds.
