Forest schools

The children are so enthusiastic about our new topic Minibeasts and spent the afternoon discovering all sorts of insects and other mini creatures in the forest. We even found a tiny frog from our pond.

Mini-beasts

This week we’ve started to learn about our new topic, mini-beasts. In Computing, we used lots of artistic features on Purple Mash to make mini-beast art in the style of Eric Carle. Have a look at our wonderful work!

The Festival of Vaisahki

On the 13th April we learnt about the Sikh New Year which was the actual date of the celebration! The children learnt about the story of Vaisahki and the 5Ks, or Beloved Ones. The children acted out the story and watched videos about how Vaisahki is celebrated by Sikhs today.

In R.E. this week, we had a fabulous discussion about the different journeys we take in our lives. I was particularly impressed with everyone’s descriptions of a chosen journey as part of our written task.

Ancient Greece…

This week we’ve started to learn about our new topic – the Ancient Greeks. We have researched some of the different gods and goddesses the Ancient Greeks worshipped and explored the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur in English. What have you enjoyed about this topic so far?

States of Matter

On Wednesday in Science we began looking at the different states of matter. To do this we looked at balloons which were filled with a gas, a liquid and a solid. We then pretended to be particles and act out what a solid, liquid and gas would look like.
