Mrs Honey’s hat.

We have loved our story ‘ Mrs Honey’s Hat’ by Pam Adams and finding out all the different things that happened to her hat. We acted out the story, wrote what happened and painted lovely colourful hats to decorate our classroom.

This week, spellings will focus on the ‘igh’ sound in words. These may include variations such as ‘ie’ for pie, ‘y’ for fly,’i’ for kind and ‘i-e’ split digraph for time. Please encourage your children to use these words in sentences too.

The Reception children worked very hard at using addition. They added numbers together to find a total and know the number gets bigger. They filled a plate full of food and then added more to find the total. Finally they wrote a number sentence.

On Wednesday morning, we recalled our prior knowledge of shapes, using what we know about shapes to identify their properties and classify them. We then looked at properties of circles and calculated the diameter and radius accurately.
