Animal Planet!

The children in Early Years and Key Stage 1 have been learning all about animals this half term. We started with a ‘Topic Ignition’ of sharing pictures of our pets and talking about our favourite animal in the style of ‘Show and Tell’. The children have done some amazing writing based on animal stories such as, ‘How the camel got its hump’ and ‘Rumble in the Jungle’. In science, we have been exploring, identifying and classifying a variety of common animals including fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. We have also learnt about how different animals survive in different habitats, including micro-habitats. It has been a very busy half term, the children have shown great enthusiasm for the topic and created some fantastic pieces of work!
