Class 1 homework sheet for this week gives you some ideas for the children to think about for next week.

English

In English we will be continuing to talk about ourselves and our families. We are looking more closely at our homes. You could draw your house or draw your room and label it.

We have learnt these phonemes so far: s a t p i n m d g o c k. We have begun to blend the sounds together to make words. Can you make some words with these sounds? We have been learning to read these words – ‘at, in, is, it’ and this week ‘and’. Can you spot these in print around the envoroment or in texts you read at home.

Maths

We will be counting objects accurately and adding groups together. Could you do some adding? Find the things you counted last week and put them into small groups. Try adding by ‘counting on’.

We’ll also be using the mathematical language of position (behind, next to). Can you look at objects on a shelf and describe their position?

Topic

Our topic this term is ‘Getting to know you’. We are still getting to know each other in class and the adults who we work with. Your child has a key person who keeps a special eye on their development and learning. We will be talking to the children about this and showing them information and assessments we have already collected in their ‘Learning Journeys’.

Please keep those ‘WOW’ slips coming because we can add this information too. Lots of children have had a big ‘WOW’ from the rest of the class already!

All the children went to a whole school assembly on Monday and we’re going again this week. Can they remember the songs? (Oats and wheat and barley grow, Big red combine harvester, Dingle dangle scarecrow… we’re learning a new one too so listen out…)

Mrs Ramli, Ms Lamb and the Class 1 team.

PS. Have a lovely weekend! 🙂
