I think a very useful one is whereas plainly because it helped me out in the debating !
Connectives such as whereas and however are very useful when countering someone in a debate. If you want to go for the more direct approach try using words like but and alternatively.
But, although, on the other hand, never the less and much more.
On the other hand,Although and But
I enjoyed the debates c an we do it again?
I think that my most used connective was, ‘Even though’ because it helped me say that even if a few celebrities do something it donsn’t mean all of them do.
The debates were really fun!
However, although and on the other hand.
BUT
ON THE OTHER HAND
ALTHOUGH
BESIDES
ADDING TO THAT

I found that On the other hand and besides were good.:)
I personaly I found that Although worked realy well with our debate.

BUT
WHEREAS
ON THE OTHER HAND
Although, whereas, on the other hand, but.
