The EYFS and KS1 children have recently had the pleasure of visitors coming to deliver a range of workshops  inspired by our topic of ‘Around the World’. We have participated in a Drama workshop called ‘How to make an Apple Pie and See the World’. The story took us on an adventure around the World to collect the ingredients for an apple pie. We used our imagination to visit 8 different countries such as Italy for semolina and Sri-Lanka for cinnamon. The session included games, role-play, music, props and much more. It was a fantastic opportunity for the children to use their imaginations and play the role of a character.

We have also enjoyed an Indian music workshop. We had a visitor from York University who taught all classes about Indian music and instruments. We explored the three key elements of Indian music; melody, rhythm and drone. We also learnt about Bhangra music and learnt some of the moves such as the lightbulb, the flower and the plate! By the end of the session, we could name and identify the key elements and Indian instruments such as the sitar and the tabla.
