Football Match Report – Park Grove 3 New Earswick 1

On a quite beautiful Thursday afternoon and in front of a supportive crowd including the legendary Mr Currie, Park Grove took to the field for their penultimate league match of the season against New Earswick Primary School. Despite dominating the possession, Park Grove struggled to create clear-cut chances, however as the first half wore on the chances increased. Eventually just before the half time whistle, Jake Coulby-Ackroyd curled a beauty into the top corner to give Park Grove the lead.

The second half saw Park Grove create many more opportunities but some wayward finishing kept New Earswick in the game. Eventually Lucas Torres finished off a lovely Park Grove passing move to double the lead. Kyle Wilce then found his scoring boots after a super run from Mani Cobb to set up the opportunity. New Earswick scored a consolation goal towards the end but Park Grove were worthy winners by 3 goals to 1.

Kyle Wilce, in his best display of the season, was excellent up front with a well taken goal as well as creating chances galore for his team-mates. Ben Bellerby, captain for the game, led by example and snuffed out any New Earswick attack very calmly.

This was another fine team display and made it seven wins out of seven in the league! There is only one league game left of the season – can Park Grove win eight in a row?!
