On Thursday 25th April , Park Grove played Dunnington Primary School in the last league fixture of the season.

The beautiful weather and packed crowd galvanized Park Grove to started off the match confidently with Robby Butler and Max Rigby dominating the midfield battle in the early stages of the match. However, Dunnington started to dominate and a well placed finish from the edge of the box gave the away side the lead. Jordan Colebourn nearly equalized but his shot was cleared off the line.  Right at the end of the half, a terrific free kick gave Morgan Zareeba-Wynne no chance to give Dunnington a 2-0 half time lead.

The second half was an equally close affair with the commitment and positive attitude demonstrated by the Park Grove team clear for all to see. Whilst they did not score, Park Grove created numerous opportunities, particularly in the last few minutes. Max Rigby’s slalom run and shot from the edge of the box being the closest chance . The final score ended Park Grove 0 Dunnington 2.

Robby Butler, as usual, led the team superbly and a truly inspired performance all over the pitch summed up his fantastic season for the school. Alfie Stewart and Thomas McCullough showed great commitment in defence and Jordan Colebourn’s excellent forward runs nearly resulted in a well-deserved goal.

Overall this was a very promising season from Park Grove which certainly was anything but dull!
