English

In English we are going to plan our own story set in another culture in addition to thinking of a repeating line that we can use to create a pattern within our writing. When we have planned this we will use the plans to begin writing our story. Please have a think at home about what your repeating line could be, remember it has to be about the material; like in Jamela’s dress. What problem might there be with the material in your story? How will that problem with the material be solved? Jot down any ideas and bring them into class to help you!

Maths

In maths this week we are going to be doing some work on fractions and linking it to our recent work on division. We will be finding halves and quarters of shapes and numbers by using objects to help us work it out. When do we use the words half and quarter in real life?

Topic

This Friday we are having an enrichment day all about toys. Please could everyone bring one cuddly toy from home for the day. They are going to be our special guests! We will be having a toy workshop and in the afternoon we will be making our own soft toys. Thank you to all the volunteers we’ve had so far to come in and help. If you are free and can spare a couple of hours your help would be greatly appreciated.

We’ve had a bit of a lull on the class blog. Please keep checking it and adding your comments – we love to read your ideas and find out what you think. www.parkgroveprimary.co.uk
