English

This week in English we are going to start looking at poems related to our topic of ‘Rainforests’. We will perform different poems thinking about clear voices and adding actions to make the performance interesting. We are going to think of our own rhyming words and interesting words relating to our theme. Can you write a list of rhyming words for different animal names? Can you think of different words which mean happy, sad, good and bad?

Maths

In Maths this week we will be thinking about division as sharing and division as repeated subtraction. We need to remember to share into equal groups so our answers are correct! Can you share your toys equally with someone at home? Can you share some sweets equally into 2 groups, 3 groups or 4 groups? We will also be looking at the vocabulary used in maths for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Can you write down some words that mean the same as these and bring them in to help within class?

Topic

In ICT we will be using search engines and websites to find out information about the rainforest. Can you find your own websites that could be good to use in the classroom to find out about rainforests? In science we will be investigating which shape of boat would be the best to travel down the Amazon River.

Other Notes

Please ensure that all children have a full PE kit. A named white t-shirt, shorts and plimsolls.

It is very cold at the moment so please could all children bring coats, gloves and scarves to keep warm.

Thank you,

Miss Plews
