The batteries make the power that travels through a metal piece of wire and touches the end of the bulb. The bulb lights up and reflectors reflect the light.Of course, electricity has to go back to the beginning in a series cicuit so after the metal piece touches the bulb it goes back round to the spring at the beggining that is touching the batteries. But in the middle there is a switch. When the switch is off the metal is not connected and so there is a break in the cicuit but when you push the switch forward and on; the metal connects and the bulb lights up.

The plastic casing around the outside is not a conductor; it’s an insulator. It will stop the electricity from flowing into your hand and eletricuiting you.
I learnt this all in the very useful lesson. 🙂 B) 😀
