Kicking off the New Year with a BANG!

Our topic for this half term in Key Stage 2 is ‘Natural Disasters’. With each new topic we begin with an ignition activity to ignite the children’s interests in the theme. We work towards a celebration event, which comes at the end of a specific topic.
To ignite our new topic we chose to create our own erupting volcanoes in our classes. This explosive experiment, carried out alongside an introductory session on tectonic plates really helped the children gain an understanding and awareness of this seismic topic …there were no disasters here!
