My name is Jo Sawyer and I am the Headteacher at Park Grove Primary. I have been at the school since April 2013. I am from York and all of my family live close by. I have worked in five schools in total, in four different local authorities. Before Park Grove, I was a headteacher for 5 years in Qatar, in the Middle East. This gave me the opportunity to be enriched by a truly multicultural environment. I have always been a strong believer in celebrating difference and we have the same philosophy at Park Grove. We see every child as an individual with something special to add to our community.

I love my job because I get a buzz from seeing the children learn and grow each day in an environment where they feel happy and safe. I really enjoy working with the team at Park Grove because everybody cares so much about the children and they all go ‘the extra mile’.

In my spare time, I love to travel, see new places and learn about other cultures. I read a lot and like nothing more than lazing in the sun (when we have any) with a good book. I am a member of a gym, but like many people, I don’t always find the time to go! I have been teaching myself to play the guitar for a number of years but I’m not quite ready to ‘go public’!

I hope you enjoy looking at our colourful and vibrant website and finding out more about the children, parents, governors and staff that make up the community of Park Grove.
