This half term, to tie in with British Science week, it has been our STEAM Week! It’s been all about science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics.

It was an incredibly busy but highly enjoyable week, with lots of varied and exciting activities happening in the different classes through school. Here are just a few activities that were happening in EYFS, KS1 and KS2:

Science – Learning about the origins of biological classification; taking part of Earth Hour to celebrate not using electricity; a gingerbread man dissolving investigation; making skeletons; and a senses scavenger hunt!

Technology – Developing programing skills through making an apple fall on Isaac Newton’s head; creating templates for Karin Zeller inspired animal artworks;  and making a yummy vegetable stir-fry and milkshakes.

Engineering – Creating a simple camera; building plastic sculptures; creating and then testing parachutes; and building bridges.

The Arts – Making organic picture frames using leaves and twigs; creating Georgia O’Keefe inspired art; and studying literature about influential STEAM Women.

Maths – Designing and building the Eiffel tower using strong shapes.

Many activities included 2, 3 or even 4 of these elements. It was great to see every class tackle STEAM week so creatively!
