The man with the bowler hat…

This week we visited the De Grey Rooms for a fantastic theatre workshop, and I think we can all agree it was tremendous fun and we all enjoyed it immensely!

After starting with a few warm up excercises, we sat down to hear our first ghost story of the day…the story of the wicked Mr Pimm and his horrible Victorian workhouse! This was a great story to start with as it linked with what we already knew about workhouses, but gave it a ghostly spin. We then had to turn the story into a drama, using creative and dramatic freeze frames. In small groups, the children then retold the story in their own words.

We then had the chance to tell our own ghost stories and, in our groups, we created some original and creative pieces of drama to showcase the story of…the man with the bowler hat!
