What do you learn about today at York Library?

Today class 7 visited the archive section of the library to link with our current work on world war one. We had a look at letters from soldiers who fought in the war and we also had time for an ice-cream in the sun afterwards!! Have a look at our pictures and see if you can tell what we learnt about today!

I loved reading the letters and I found out just what chocolate can do, it made lots of soldiers happier.

I learnt that they sent chocolate to soldiers in WW1 and the soldiers sent letters back to say there thanks.

I learnt quite a lot, including how different their handwriting was from now! I thought the mayor would be doing ordering people around, not sending boxes of chocolate. I also learnt what hokey – pokey ice cream – eating one was the best part of the trip!! 😉 😀 😛 🙂 😛 🙂 😀 😉
