Year 5/6 Swimming Gala Report – 24.1.14

On Friday, Park Grove’s team of 8 children (4 boys and 4 girls)set off to Archbishops Holgate school in order to compete in the Year 5/6 swimming gala. The team took off pretty strong with everyone  cheering and clapping as loud as they could to support the team even more. The atmosphere was spectacular with eight schools competing, all head to head a lot of the time. Each team member swam twice, swimming either butterfly, backstroke, breast stroke or front crawl. Park Grove struggled to make 1st place but often found themselves coming 2nd, 3rd or 4th quite a lot. After all their hard work, Park Grove just made 3rd place with Lakeside 1 point behind. Final places were Park Grove 3rd, Dunnington 2nd and joint 1st place, Clifton with Rawcliffe and Robert Wilkinson. Everyone should be very proud of themselves for all their efforts.
