Throughout this half term, all classes at Park Grove have been lucky enough to visit the York Theatre Royal for an exclusive backstage look! Whilst the classes were there, they had a very informative tour of all the different parts of a theatre and learnt about the range of different jobs such as the Deputy Stage Manager, Producer and Director, stage crew, costume and set designers – there are so many more than just the actors and actresses that we see on the main stage! It was great to wander around the backstage and hidden areas of the theatre and even stand on the stage with the fabulous sets for the current Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime imagining we were in the limelight!
The Key Stage 1 and Early Years children also had a fantastic opportunity to practise storytelling skills through a workshop. We used a suitcase full of objects to spark our imagination and let the magical stories begin.
