A successful open evening

On 12/11/2014 the school provided an open evening for parents to get information and to talk about important aspects of the school. This included the roles and activities within the School Governing Body, the academic performance of the pupil community at the school and how key areas are developed and dealt with. Furthermore we had an overview of the Core Values of the school and the wide spectrum of additional offers and initiatives that the school provides on top of the normal curriculum.

The evening was introduced by a lovely singing performance by Reception. Some of the children were so keen that they even turned up despite being already changed into their pyjamas! Miss Lamb very kindly looked after them after the performance, so that the parents could stay for the following discussion.

The overall turn-out for the discussion was good with more than 25 parents and all School Governors, as well as several teachers with many active contributions over the evening. The feedback about the quality and content of the presentations was very positive. Parents obviously felt comfortable to ask some probing questions and voice several constructive ideas, which indicated a positive, caring concern and engagement regarding the school and its importance for the children and the community in the Groves.

The evening concluded with a good sense of achievement, optimism and confirmation, that Park Grove Primary School is a great place for children to be, that firm mechanisms and structures are in place to provide a very high quality of teaching and achievement, whilst a lot of valuable additional activities and projects are creating the certain “extra”, which is acknowledged and enjoyed by the pupils, their families and the local community beyond the school boundaries.
