Andy Baker – Co-opted Safeguarding Governor
My name is Andy Baker and I was co-opted as safeguarding governor in September 2022.
I am originally from Manchester, and spent eleven years there happily working in Youth Work. For the first five years, as a schools worker, working to deliver RE and PSHE content in secondary schools in the Trafford area. After that I became a youth worker in a church where I was responsible for under 18s as well as students and 18-30s. During that time I felt increasingly drawn towards the church and was subsequently ordained in 2015. I spent time in London, Liverpool and St Helens in various clergy roles and am currently serving as the Associate Vicar at St Michael-le-Belfrey in York where I currently live with my wife and two children, the eldest of which attends Park Grove.
When I’m not parenting or working, I have a keen passion for baking and have recently made my first wedding cake. (For a couple who I also married!) I love to read, watch films, travel and am interested in all things science, which was my first passion before youth work!
I am very excited to be part of the governing team here at this wonderful school that my child loves!
