Curiosity Club Week 7

Another successful week for the curiosity club!

Today for our investigation we made a lava lamp.

We used a large bottle, added some water and vegetable oil (carefully so that it didn’t go all over us!) The oil floated on top of the water. Then we added blue food colouring and an Alka-Seltzer tablet. The tablet made the concoction behave like a lava lamp! It did not go fully to plan as some of us shook our bottles and so the liquids mixed which made the blobs of ‘lava’ hard to see. Those of us who didn’t shake the bottle had more success and created a fantastic lava lamp! (See below).
