To celebrate the end of their ‘Funnybones’ topic, EYFS and KS1 had a carousel of health related activities, what a busy afternoon it was!

With Miss Glaholm, they made paper plate faces using lots of different fruit and veg. The children were proud of their work and enjoyed sharing their plates with one another.

Then, with Mrs Gartland, the children completed some mindfulness yoga. This showed the importance of looking after our mental health and finding ways to help us relax and help our brains to recharge, especially as the topic celebration took place in Children’s Mental Health week.

Next, they went to Miss Tarpey’s class where they had a scavenger hunt around the classroom searching for food pictures. Once all food had been found, they categorised it into whether it was healthy or unhealthy for us and had lots of discussions about food choices.

Finally, with Mrs Bell, they discussed the importance of exercise and shared which forms of exercise they enjoy the most. They did a quick warm up dance video and then chose a teddy to complete some teddy bear fitness with Joe Wicks. They used the teddies to help them complete the exercises such as squats, lunges and sit ups. It definitely got their hearts beating faster!

The afternoon was rounded off with an assembly led by one of our parents who is a nurse. It was fascinating hearing about her job, learning about the equipment she uses and being able to ask some questions at the end too.

The children have done such amazing learning throughout the ‘Funnybones’ topic and we are very proud of them all. We are sure they have been eager to tell you all about it!
