Football Match Report – Park Grove 5 Fishergate 1

On Thursday afternoon with a hint of sunshine surrounding the pitch, Park Grove took to the field for their sixth league match of the season against Fishergate Primary School. Park Grove dominated the opening exchanges but only had a Kyle Wilce tap in, with his left foot, to show for their dominant play. Eventually the goals arrived towards the end of the first half, with a curling Jake Coulby-Ackroyd corner doubling Park Grove’s lead before Lucas Torres finished with aplomb after a inch-perfect cross from Jake Coulby-Ackroyd. The half time score was Park Grove 3 Fishergate 0.

The second half saw further Park Grove domination and several chances to add to the half time scoreline. Sheer persistence from Lucas Torres, after pinball inside the Fishergate area, doubled his goal tally for the day. A rare Park Grove defensive blemish resulted in a consolation goal for Fishergate before Jake Coulby-Ackroyd finished the goal tally in the match in style, with a wonderful clean finish from 10 yards, his ninth goal in just five league matches!

Man of the Match was Jake Coulby-Ackroyd, whose calmness on the ball and all-round effort in defence and attack, provided the basis of many of Park Grove’s best moments from the centre of midfield. Lucas Torres justified his selection with two well taken goals and a whole-hearted performance around the pitch. Chelsea Haskins’ calmness and great positioning in defence demonstrated her great versatility for the team.

Park Grove’s next league football match will take place against New Earswick at home this coming Thursday.

Another fantastic performance from the team – its now six wins out of six in the league!
