Football Report – Acomb 4 Park Grove 6

Park Grove’s third football league fixture took place on Tuesday afternoon away against Acomb Primary School. As per usual this match took place in front of a well-supported and calm crowd.The first half provided goals galore. Park Grove took the lead courtesy of a well-placed finish by Kyle Wilce. However soon after, Acomb equalised with a quick counterattack leading to a goal. Park Grove finished off the first half superbly with further goals from Tomas Wormald and second in two games from Ben Bellerby gave the away side a 3-1 halftime lead.

Any thoughts of a comfortable second half for Park Grove quickly evaporated early in the second half, when the pace and power of Acomb’s strikers pulled the sides level at 3-3. A brilliant finish from Robby Butler appeared to have tilted the balance in Park Grove’s favour but Acomb once again levelled the game up at 4-4 with two minutes left!

Park Grove seemingly went from first to third gear instantly and unselfish play from Robby Butler allowed Kyle Wilce to notch a quick double salvo to turn the tide in Park Grove’s favour. The final score ending 6-4 to Park Grove!

Star players were Kyle Wilce whose first school hat trick was well-deserved. Robby Butler, once again had a fine game and got a much deserved goal and Tomas Wormald industry from midfield was vital in assisting many of Park Grove’s goals.

All in all a pleasing end to the league fixtures as we now go into an extended winter break.
