Governor training

Some of the new governors at Park Grove attended a training session at the City Council this week – “Welcome to Governance” gave us a very useful introduction to the world of being a school governor, and also some very interesting information about schools and governors. Did you know there are 63 schools in York with over 1000 governors, and that the very first governing body in the UK was established about 600 years ago?

It was also a great opportunity to meet new governors from other schools right across York – I sat next to a staff governor from Huntington Secondary, a community governor at Woodthorpe Primary and a parent from Clifton. We’re looking forward to lots of other training this year, it’s going to be busy!
