Homework w/b 18th November

English

In English we will continue to look at stories from other cultures and stories that have patterns within the language. We are going to be focusing on a story called ‘Jamela’s Dress’ and Jamela doesn’t make a very good choice. We will use drama to explore Jamela’s decisions and think about using adjectives to describe beautiful African material. In addition to this, we will start to think of our own ideas for story writing. Can you think of a time when you made a good choice? Write about it and bring it in to share with us!

Maths

In maths we will be looking at number sequences, including odd and even numbers. Whenever you see a number can you say if it is odd or even and why? We are also going to be doing some data handling by asking each other questions like what is your favourite … ? We will then represent the answers in a block chart or ‘pictogram’. Why not do a survey with your family and friends to find out their favourite toy or drink?

Topic

In topic we will be looking at old toys and how they are different to the toys we play with today. In science will we have a go at drawing our own series circuits and adding a buzzer or switch to a working circuit.

Next Friday (25th November), we are having an enrichment day about toys. In the afternoon we will be making our own toy. To make this possible we need lots of adult helpers – it is a lovely relaxing and fun afternoon and a great chance to chat to the children and get to know the class.
