Year 6 Table Tennis Tournament Review!

For the last time in their school years, the year sixes had a chance to show off their table tennis skills. After the first and second rounds there were 6 left and tension was rising. The quarter-finals involved some phenomenal games, eventually sending 3 fantastic year 6’s (Max Rigby, Lydia Noble and Rudy Steuer) off to play each other. The first match was Lydia V Max  and tensions were high as they both played an amazing game! The final scores were: Max, 11-8 and 11-7.

Pumped by the last game, Max then went on to play the game that sent him into the final, against Rudy. Both playing some great shots as the crowd gathered to see this serious table tennis game… after the game was finished, the scores were 11-7 11-5 to Max. Now it was time to decide who went into the final of the tournament… Lydia V Rudy!  After the first set of pure pressure the scores were 11-7 to Lydia. Both Lydia and Rudy played extremely well but in the end Lydia won 11-3 sending her into the final versus Max!

On Thursday the 5th June the Year 6 Table Tennis final took place between Lydia Noble and Max Rigby. Under extreme pressure both players performed  almost professionally, playing both sneaky and lucky shots. After a nail-biting play-for-serve Max began the game with style but Lydia played it right back at him with some impressing shots! Spinners were flying to and fro and the tension on the table was so strong the audience could almost taste it! At the end of the fist set the scores were: 11-6 to Lydia.

Quickly, the second set got underway with Lydia beginning and Max returning some incredible shots! Due to the fact  it was their last ever T.T final at Park Grove, Lydia and Max gave it 110% and brought their best games! Inspiring table tennis was played and great sportsmanship was shown from each of our finalists. In the end the score was 11-6 to Lydia, which makes her our 2014 Year 6 tournament winner! Commiserations to both Max and Rudy who both played fantastic games and put in their time and effort  as did Lydia.

Well done to everyone who took part in this fantastic tournament!
