It was a great meeting tonight and everybody was on good form!
I was really sad to see that the Governors and school management had decided to stop funding the Groves holiday club. Lots of parents really valued this excellent provision, and there seems to have been no consultation with the actual users…if funding is the issue, could you have put it to the parents to ask for ideas, rather than just making the decision in closed meetings?
Hi Hazel, Brian Furey here and I am a Parent Governor and the Parental Link Governor.
I agree with you that it is sad to see the Groves Holiday Club come to an end, and I have being part of that process and that we as Governors have being following Groves closely over the past year and the staff did a tremendous job. I just want to say that the decision was not taken lighlty.
We want to make best use of the great resources that Park Grove has to offer the community, especially during holiday time. We are looking at how to best use Park Grove’s resources to provide holiday activities that will reach out into the community and enable even more local parents, both parents with Park Grove children and parents whose children attend other schools, enjoy our school.
Hazel, I’m at school most days at drop off times either at class 5 or class 2… though Mollie tends to usher me downstairs quite quickly now so more then likely I will be around class 2 with Max. Please feel free to talk or leave word for me in the office and we can go through it in more detail.
Thanks for your feedback, and talk to you soon.
Brian
